Indoors Jungle

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope the holidays were fun for all you dear readers and that you look forward to 2012.

As part of new years resolutions, some promise to redecorate and/or entirely redo their homes. One high fashion trend for 2011 was animal print and I think it gives a bold and edgy look for the daring few when incorporated indoors. Animal print has that jungle- free vibe and can be soothing to the eye while providing the allusion of luxury.

As with fashion, Animal print is bold and few will take it on. However, the decor is really easy to work with and can be done in small doses by incorporating it into select pieces as in lamp shades, mirrors, rugs, curtains, as well as beddings.

For larger statements zebra prints are easy alternatives to a jungle look. With their black and white theme palette, it makes it easy to blend them into other colour themes and existing decorum.

For those who intend to go the whole way, nothing says bold as a wall to wall cover of animal. Leopard and tiger print are both highly effective for the grandeur.

How about cow tiles? Not really jungle- but they are all the same animal.

Nothing says unique and luxurious as good quality animal print in any house hold. The items need not be expensive and one can get really good pieces from Masaai market, curios, and vintage rugs shops. An animal print piece has the ability to instantly transform a room, as an individual statement piece or together in an orderly collection. Large scale animal works are ideal for homeowners, you do not want to change your tiles in a rented apartment.

I hope this piece inspires you to go out of your way this year and think outside the box with your interiors.
As always I welcome any positive criticism, suggestions and recommendations on the post.

Have a lovely week ahead.

Love, S.S!!!
